Our Story

Annie and Ryan are two California bay area natives that didn’t manage to cross paths until they both ended up in Hawaii - and on different islands! Thanks to technology and a 100 mile dating app radius. They immediately hit it off, with a shared sense of adventure (kiting, surfing, wanting to dive with manta rays) and extreme love of food - lots of baking/cooking photos were shared back and forth. They even owned aprons from the same fancy brand. Ryan was particularly impressed that for the first Facetime date, Annie showed up with wet messy hair and was wearing a surf poncho - just back from the kite beach and chomping down on some food from a thai food truck. This was probably the only time since that Annie was more casually dressed than Ryan - he’d put on a nice clean shirt when they arranged their video call.

A first real date quickly materialized - Annie used the excuse of wanting to go shopping in Oahu since Maui didn’t have the same selection…and Ryan used the excuse to head to Foodland and pick up groceries. It ended too quickly but they were both excited to figure it out. Countless facEtimes. Tons of flights (really not so bad at 70 bucks round trip and about 20 min in air…it was quicker than some uber rides in traffic in the bay). It wasn’t just Annie - Ryan quickly fell for Annie’s new puppy Moo, and has been informed they are now BFFs.

Fast forward a year and Annie had convinced Ryan to go to the Halekulani Hotel for afternoon tea. “Hey, since we’re dressed up and out and about…can we go check out this beach I’ve been wanting to scout for photos”. Annie was shocked when Ryan got down on one knee to propose (with kiters in the background!). This was after looking at a different spot and a wave snuck up on Ryan and soaked through his fancy sneakers… They’re thrilled for this next chapter of their lives and can’t wait to celebrate with close family and friends (and Moo!).
